About

Arli Pagaduan | Writer, Illustrator, and Storyteller from the Philippines

Arli writes stories and illustrates them. Sometimes, it is the other way around – she illustrates and writes something about them. Essentially, she is a storyteller (who often likes to read aloud too). She found her way to illuswriting when she realized that she has been doing it since she was eleven years old.

A self-published author of five books since 2017, Arli believes in creating art and breathing words that are life-giving, hope-inspiring, and love-reminding. Themes of her works revolve around spirituality, faith, relationships, people, personal reflections and experiences, matters of the heart, and her life values.

She also shows the interconnectedness of humanity and nature through her on-going personal project Tiny Tutubi, an online series of illustrated stories that call for responsible stewardship of the environment.

A Multimedia Arts and Sciences graduate of Mapúa Institute of Technology in 2013, Arli delights in smearing the sides of her hands with watercolor, ink, pencils, and pastels, as well as drawing digitally. She carries the mindset that there is a perfect medium for each story.

For her, art and stories are not just channels of emotions but vehicles for change and truth. She persists to give comfort, joy, peace, and reasons to ruminate through her creations. Just as art saves her every day, she hopes that her little works could do the same for others.

To write and draw with a heart in service – this is Arli’s mission as an artist.

Since 2016, Arli has been an active member of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan, the first and only Philippine organization that creates and promotes illustration for children.
